Coaches Meeting 6/11/06
The following rule changes/statements were adopted:
- The league statement of purpose as it appears on the website now reads:
The Central Penobscot Youth League (CPYL) is a late spring independent baseball league
for children 9 - 12
years old living in the towns of Bradford, Corinth, Exeter, Garland, Hudson,
Kenduskeag, and Stetson in central Maine. Play starts in early May and ends before the
Fourth of July. The schedule will be posted here when it becomes available. The league follows rules as set by
Little League Baseball Official Regulation and Playing Rules exept as amended to meet the needs of the league by
a majority of coaches attending the league meeting. Amendments will take precedence over Little League rules immediately
upon adoption. Associated leagues are encouraged to adopt these procedures.
- Article 6 of rule amentments now reads:
Pitchers may pitch no more than 9 outs per day or game, the outs in a game to be consecutive, and no more than a total of 27 outs per
week counting a week as Sunday - Saturday.
Plans for upcoming playoffs (because of rain-shortened season), including umpiring, were discussed and agreed upon. The following
games will be played as makeups:
- Stetson v Corinth Green
- Stetson v Kenduskeag
- Corinth Green v Exeter/Garland
- Bradfore V Exeter/Garland
Concerns were addressed about frequent problems and coaches were asked to address them:
- Fielders must not block basepaths without the ball in hand.
- Runners coming home must slide when there is a throw on the way.
- Umpires must be selected with care.
Tropies were discussed:
- Sportsmanship trophy was voted upon and recipient selected.
- Trophies will be purchased from different source.
