THE IOYOTGM PRINCIPLE: (I'm ok; you're out to get me)
In Imaginary Reality whatever is wrong with the world must be the fault of some person
or persons conspiring against the public good. In IR, nothing can go wrong unless
somebody plans it that way. The fault or conspiracy is due to the moral decadence of
those responsible -- usually recognizable by their assumed victimhood. It cannot be the
product of historical or economic forces -- or more implausibly yet, of some failure of the
Imaginarian populace. People are out of work because they don't want to work, not
because of economic changes, health problems, or because elected leaders manipulate the
economy to control inflation by increasing unemployment. People are homeless because
they choose to be, not because their brethern are too self-absorbed to take proper care of
the weak, sick, and impoverished. Women are raped because they ask for it. In Imaginary Reality there
are no victims except for good citizens who are being asked unfairly to deal with the self-
inflicted problems of a bunch of crybabies.
