These are the teachers about whom I have received information. They have lost their teaching certification as of July 2000. There are others who do not wish to be made public. I will add to the list as I learn of more. I am also going to make lists covering the years to come.

Caroline Bond - has lost her certification to teach in the public school system, but will teach in a private school, which doesn't have to cater to the governor.
  • 15 years teaching experience
  • Nominated for Teacher of the Year in Elementary Mathematics
  • Involved in creating multi-age programs, environmental education, teaching math using manipulatives, and webpage design building with 7/8 graders
Carl Chase - George Stevens Academy - Blue Hill
  • 26 years varied teaching experience, including work with emotionally disturbed children, Outward Bound, and college level marine science
  • Developed a steelband program at GSA, both for credit and as an after school program
  • invited to play at Gov. King's inauguration party (How ironic!)
Paul Donovan - Thornton Academy - half time Social Worker
  • 15 years experience
  • Developed open water rowing program, which has grown to 60 students. After the initial grant, he funded this program himself on his own time, drawing TV and print media coverage in southern Maine
John Ford - Waldo Technical Center - Belfast
  • 1 year teaching experience
  • Developed and taught high school level Law Enforcement Program.

Ernie Guimond - John Bapst Memorial High School - Foreign Language Department

  • Is now teaching in Japan

Judy Robbins - George Stevens Academy - support personnel
  • 5 years experience
  • left high paying corporate job to give back to the community that educated her children
Lisa Savage - Messalonskee High School - Asian Studies, Western Civilization
  • 6 years experience
  • School coordinator for Turn Off TV Week - several years
  • Founded a Welcome Committee to greet new students
  • Created a Math Backpack collection integrating literature, math activities and family involvement
  • Ironically, while losing her high school certification this year, Lisa still has her elementary school certification for one more year and has therefore been transferred to the 5th grade at the Atwood-Tapley School in Oakland.
David Solmitz - Madison High School - Social Studies, German - spent 1999-2000 school year finishing master's degree and writing a book, soon to be released.
