Bio-energia tem sido uma importante opção para mitigação das emissões de gases de efeito estufa e substituição de combustíveis 
fósseis.  A utilização de energia renovável na União Européia tem 
Sido uma estratégia chave para atendimento de objectivos ambientais e de segurança de suprimento.  Na Polônia, ela tem
sido identificada como a mais importante e promissora fonte de energia renovável.  Dentre as formas de energia renovável, a 
oriunda da biomassa é uma das mais utilizados no mundo. L Estima-se que seu consume atual esteja entre 10% e 14%.  Para 2020, 
há estimativas de que ela atinja 11%.

Biomass energy world-wide


Bio energy has been an important option for the reduction of emissions of greenhouse gasses and the replacement of fossil fuels.  
The utilization of renewable energy in the European Union has been a key strategy for the attainment of environmental objectives 
and for the assurance of supply.  In Poland this was identified as the most important and promising source of sustainable energy.  
Among the forms of sustainable energy, that deriving from biomass is one of the most widely used in the world.  It is estimated 
that the current use is between 10% and 14%.  By 2020 it has been estimated to reach 11%.

Espécies de Pinus vêm sendo introduzidos no Brasil há mais de um século para variadas finalidades. Muitas delas foram trazidas 
pelos imigrantes europeus como curiosidade, para fins ornamentais e para produção de madeira. As primeiras introduções de que se 
tem notícia foram de Pinus canariensis, proveniente das Ilhas Canárias, no Rio Grande do Sul, em torno de 1880.

The Role of Pinus in Brazilian Silivculture



Pines were introduced into Brazil more than a century ago for various reasons.  Many were brought by European immigrants as
 curiosities, as ornamentals, and for wood production.  The first introductions for which we have records were of Pinus 
Canariensis, brought from the Canary Islands to Rio Grande do Sul about 1880.
